A Brief history of Clapp Optometry
Back left to right Dr. Jennifer Clapp, Dr. Doug Clapp, Dr Jeff Clapp and sitting in the front is Dr. Laurie Canham Kilby who took over the Norwich office.
A Local Family Tradition
Both Jennie Clapp and Jeff Clapp are fourth-generation optometrists. Jennie’s family all practiced in South Dakota, but Jeff’s great-grandfather and his great uncle had their roots in Simcoe just down the highway. Jeff’s father started up two practices back in 1970 in Norwich and Delhi. When Jennie and Jeff joined the business in 1995, they soon expanded to Port Dover as well.
A few years ago one of their associate doctors took over the Norwich office leaving them with just the two locations: 331 Main Street in Delhi and the brand new location at 413 Main Street in Port Dover, formerly the Port Dover Public Library. After a major renovation it is now the Clapp Professional Building, and the Optometric office spans the entire upper floor.
Dr. Clapp simply states, “Our history and roots are here. Our family is here, and we consider our patients as part of our extended family.
